Most of our windows and doors leave the workshop to a factory finished standard with three coats of microporous paint so there is no further decoration needed after installation. We use Teknos anti-stain primer to ensure that the dark colour of the sapele doesn’t stain the paint, followed by two coats of Aquatop. Tecknos are a leading paint brand used by top joineries; they offer an expected life time guarantee of 8 years for the paint. If you would prefer to use a different brand of paint we will of course try to accommodate this.
We offer white as our standard colour but we can finish the doors and windows in whatever colour you would like.
For a more natural timber look we use Osmo Oil, stains, wax or varnish.
Our glazing bars are made from Accoya which is a treated softwood with a 50-year rot guarantee, It will not move and warp over time. We use an applied bar system where the outer bars are made in to cassettes and sit on top of the double-glazed units while the inner bars are jointed in to the frame. We combine this with duplex units to trick the eye in to thinking it is a through bar.
If you are replacing existing windows, we can match the current glazing bar arrangement, whether it be Georgian, Victorian or other. If it’s a new window we can recommend and design a suitable glazing bar arrangement that will be sympathetic to the building and any other windows and doors that are already there.
We can do an Ovolo or lambs tongue internal glazing bar profile. We do a wooden ‘putty’ external bar which, when painted has the same profile as putty but has the advantage that it doesn’t crack and need maintenance.
All our quotes include, as standard, good-quality brass hinges and furniture. For sash windows this includes, window closures, sash lifts and where building control requires it, window restrictors. Our flush casement windows are provided with casement stays (where opening) and window closures.
Doors are quoted for on an individual basis depending on what type of handles and locks you require.
If you would like a particular brand or finish of ironmongery on your window and door then we would source this for you and adjust the price accordingly.
We work with a select few local builders to offer installation services in Kent and London. We handle all the arrangements with our installers and pay them directly so you don’t have to. We only work with our trusted partners to ensure they are neat and tidy whilst working at your home. All installations are checked by Ryan and finishing touches carried out by him.
We can offer a supply only service if you are further afield.
Responsibly sourced timber is a carbon neutral rated building material and therefore has the lowest negative environmental impact. It thermally outperforms UPVC, looks beautiful and increases the value of your property.
We use Accoya, Tricoya and Sapele. Accoya (www.accoya.com).
We can of course use other timbers to suit your project, for example, if you want to use oak and finish it in a natural oil we can quote accordingly.
We carefully source all our timber to ensure that it comes from sustainable forests and is FSC (Forrest Stewardship Council) approved.
We work with a local glazing company with an outstanding reputation in order to offer a huge range of glazing options. Our doors and windows incorporate 20mm thick double glazed, argon filled, sealed duplex units as standard, which meet the required U value for Building Control. This glazing option ensures top quality thermal and acoustic insulation performance and a 5 year guarantee.
These units can be partially or entirely sandblasted in order to give a frosted effect for bathrooms or where privacy is needed.
If you would like thinner or thicker units that are filled with different gas we can quote accordingly.
If you need advice or are unsure of what you would like for your windows and doors we can design them with you and produce Auto-cad drawings for you to approve. We ensure that you end up with a beautiful design that is entirely in-keeping with your property.
All our windows and doors meet current Building Control standards. All homeowners are responsible for ensuring that any window replacement is carried out within their permitted development rights and according to current building control standards. As part of our end to end service Sophie can complete the Building Control application and liaise with them on inspections and obtain the required certification.
If your project requires Planning Permission Sophie can make the application on your behalf, co-ordinate an architect for appropriate drawings, attend site visits with the assigned Planning Officer and liaise with the planning department on all aspects of the project to completion.
